STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINE MAINTAINING COMPLIANCE WITH THE H&S BULLETIN BOARDS Date Issued: February 6, 2023 Rescinds: March 29, 2019 Section: Safety and WSIB File Code: S-MCSB PURPOSE To provide all Toronto Fire Services (TFS) Supervisors with a guideline to ensure that the Health and Safety Bulletin Boards are maintained to meet compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). RESPONSIBILITY All TFS Supervisors are responsible for adhering to this guideline and ensuring that the Health and Safety Bulletin Board is up to date and compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). GUIDELINES 1. General 1.1 As per the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, the following documents shall be posted in the workplace on a health & safety notice board: The Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&SA) - As per OHSA, s. 25 (2) (i) The City’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy (Current Year) - As per OHSA, s. 25 (2) (k) City of Toronto Violence in the Workplace Policy (Current Year) - As per OHSA, s. 32.0.1 (2) City of Toronto Workplace Human Rights and Anti-Harassment Policy (Current Year) - As per OHSA, s. 32.0.1 (2) JHSC membership listing – members' names, contact numbers, co-chairs, certified members, work location (Current Year) - As per OHSA, s. 9 (32) The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board's (WSIB) Form 82 poster – "In Case of Injury at Work" - As per WSIA, 1997 The Ministry of Labour poster "Health and Safety at Work: Prevention Starts Here” - As per OHSA Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development (MLITSD) orders or reports - As per OHSA, s. 57 (10) (a)- To be posted for 30 days following the order and/or report. A notice of compliance with a MLITSD order - As per OHSA, s. 59 (3) - To be posted for 14 days following submission of compliance. File Code: M-MCSB Page 1 of 3 STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINE Results of monitoring of airborne concentrations of a designated substance and worker exposure to airborne concentrations of a designated substance - As per O. Reg. 490/09, s. 25 (a) - If work is conducted in a worksite with a known designated substance(s), results of monitoring of airborne concentrations of the designated substance(s) must be posted. Results of monitoring of biological, chemical or physical agents as prescribed - As per OHSA, s. 26 (1) (f) - This includes any designated substance surveys and hygiene tests (e.g. indoor air quality test, noise assessments, ergonomic reports, etc.) conducted at the worksite. 1.2 As best practices at the City, the following are recommended to be posted in the workplace: Regulations under the OHSA that apply to the workplace industry First Aid Regulation (R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 1101) Guide to the Occupational Health & Safety Act Guide to JHSC and Representatives Guide to the WHMIS Regulation Other guides, guidelines, engineering data sheets, information bulletins and/or advisories as applicable to the worksite H&S Posters- City wide or divisional Emergency Services and numbers JHSC Terms of Reference Monthly JHSC workplace inspection reports JHSC Meeting Minutes The required documents that should be attached to the board, are those that are on the checklist. Non-required documents or other posters, advertisements, memos, etc. shall be removed. 2. Replacement of Missing Documents Missing required documents must be replaced as soon as possible.
