Saturday February 1, 2025 Rules and Procedures Please read through the following rules and procedures for the events. Remember that although we have tried to model the Junior High Academic Decathlon, some events and procedures may have been modified. Teams:​​ Each School may send a team of 8-10 students. The same students must ​ ​ ​ participate in the two team events. Some schools may be permitted to send a B-Team. Note: For overall awards, ONLY the A-Team from each school will be considered. B-Team members will be considered for individual awards. Additional awards may be given to insure that A-Team students are not edged out of a ribbon. Dress Code:​ Students should wear their school uniforms or their academic team gear Logic Quiz:​ The entire team will work to complete 20 logic puzzles in the gym to start the competition. They will work together or separately and record all of their answers in the box provided on the question paper. This will be the only item scored. NOTE: If a school is sending a POD of students, they are welcome to work on the logic quiz as well. Religion:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Religion as outlined on the AJHD website Literature:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Literature as outlined on the AJHD website Math:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Math as outlined on the AJHD website Social Studies:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Social Studies as outlined on the AJHD website Science:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Science as outlined on the AJHD website Fine Arts​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Fine Arts as outlined on the AJHD website. English / ​ ​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple Language Arts:​ -choice test on ELA as outlined on the AJHD website Current Events:​ One student from each team will take a 50 question multiple-choice test on Current Events as outlined on the AJHD website Super Quiz:​ The entire team (Same 10 students from the Logic Quiz) will participate in the Super Quiz. A reader will read 50 multiple-choice questions and the students will have 10 seconds to answer the question by raising a placard with the correct letter. Cathedral High School Students will proctor the event and record the correct responses and keep score. Binders will be used during this event to help the crowd keep track of the score. Scoring:​ Teams will receive 25 points for every correct answer in Logic, 10 points for every correct answer in the Super Quiz, and 2 points for every response in the individual events. ​ Overall winners will be based on the total points scored Study Guide:​ All questions will be based on the Official Junior High Academic Decathlon study guide. ​ Awards:​ The overall winning school will bring home the perpetual trophy to be returned at next year’s competition as well as a trophy for the school to keep. ​ The second, third, and fourth place schools will all bring home trophies for display at school ​ The overall winning team members will receive trophies ​ The second, third, and fourth place teams will receive medals. ​ Team and individual event winners will receive first, second, third, fourth, and fifth place ribbons. All participants will receive certificates of participation Electronic ​ Students may not bring or possess any calculators, cell phones, or any Devices:​ electronic devices (including internet connected watches) which may aid or distract a competitor. Students may have watches without alarms or keypads. The times of events are listed below. The time of the Awards Presentation is approximate. Gates will open at 7:30 AM. Space is limited; please be considerate of other schools. There are some tables and benches available on campus. Small canopies are acceptable. Parking: There is no on-campus parking available. Street parking is limited. Please consider carpooling.
