- The competition takes place on Saturday February 1, 2025
Teams
- Each school can send a team of 8-10 students.
- The same students must participate in both team events
- Some schools can send a B-Team.
- Only the A-Team is considered for overall awards.
- B-Team members are considered for individual awards.
- Additional awards ensure A-Team students are not edged out of a ribbon.
Dress Code
- Students should wear school uniforms or academic team gear
Logic Quiz
- The entire team completes 20 logic puzzles in the gym to start the competition.
- Teams can work together or separately
- Answers are recorded on the question paper.
- This is the only item scored.
- A school sending a POD of students can participate in the logic quiz.
Individual Tests
- One student from each team will take a 50-question multiple-choice test in each of the following subjects:
- Religion
- Literature
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
- Fine Arts
- English / Language Arts
- Current Events
- All subjects are outlined on the AJHD website.
Super Quiz
- All 10 students from the Logic Quiz team will participate in the Super Quiz.
- A reader will read 50 multiple-choice questions.
- Students have 10 seconds to answer by raising a placard with the correct letter.
- Cathedral High School students will proctor the event, record responses, and keep score.
Scoring
- Teams get 25 points for each correct answer in the Logic Quiz.
- Teams get 10 points for each correct answer in the Super Quiz.
- Teams get 2 points for every response in the individual events.
- Overall winners are based on total points scored.
Study Guide
- All questions are based on the Official Junior High Academic Decathlon study guide.
Awards
- The overall winning school receives the perpetual trophy.
- The overall winning school will also receive a trophy.
- Second, third, and fourth place schools receive trophies.
- Overall winning team members receive trophies.
- Second, third, and fourth place teams receive medals.
- Team and individual event winners receive first, second, third, fourth, and fifth place ribbons.
- All participants receive certificates of participation.
Electronic Devices
- Students cannot use calculators, cell phones, or any electronic devices.
- Internet-connected watches are prohibited.
- Watches without alarms or keypads are permitted.
Schedule
- Gates open at 7:30 AM.
- There is limited space.
- Tables and benches are available.
- Small canopies are acceptable.
- No on-campus parking; street parking is limited.

- 9:30-10:15: Logic Quiz in the Gym
- 10:15-10:45: Break
- 10:45-11:45: Subject Tests
- Fine Arts in Room 201
- Literature in Room 202
- Math in Room 203
- Social Studies in Room 304
- Science in Room 303
- English in Room 302
- Religion in Room 301
- Current Events in Room 401
- 11:45-12:45: Lunch (schools provide their own lunch)
- 12:45-1:00: Parents/Moderators/Halftime show in the Gym
- 1:00-2:30: Super Quiz in the Gym
- 2:30-3:30: Closing & Awards in the Gym
