If the right-side flyer pulls the ripcord with no result, the flight crew's first action should be to have the other flyers attempt to pull their ripcord. Not including the Flight Crew performing usual tasks, what is the minimum distance from the winch to the bottom of the tower? 20 Feet If the flyers are aloft and they cannot or will not release, and the winch will not properly winch the flyers down, flyers must be taken down by a "manlift" or "man basket" If it appears that the landing pole will go past the vertical position when catching the flyers at the low point, there is a potential accident of any severity. When attaching the two B-12 clips on the launch release system to the flight suit release ring, the flight carabiners are locked by the Controller and Expediter. Each flyer, including small children in Pink (XS) flight suits flying with adults, must have a firm grip of the loop when the winch is in the down position. According to the Skycoaster Owner's Manual, a guardian must accompany a child under the age of 14 while on any Skycoaster flight. The Controller should give the "3, 2, 1, fly!" command if a winch malfunction prevents the flyers from getting off the ground. It is acceptable for only one person to grab the loop on a double or triple flight (excluding small children). Per the Skycoaster's Owner's Manual, an Incident Report Form must be completed and immediately filed when the rope could be pulled far beyond the low point. The Assistant Controller will administer the initial warning phrase to the flyers while on the winch, "Next time back, everyone grab the loop with both hands." Fly other than belly-to-earth, head forward toward the flight structure in a traditional Flight Suit. On a triple flight, the flyers should be arranged with the smallest/shortest flyer(s) in the middle. Pressing the Emergency Stop button at the e-stop switch station/operator's station will disable the winch. BBL refers to backstraps, buckles and legs. The BBL is performed by the Assistant Controller, who checks and confirms backstraps, buckles, and legs are securely clasped. Before the Assistant Controller and Controller confirm "Carabiners Locked", they have checked and confirmed that all anchor bolts are in place and tight. What two positions must remain near the e-stop switch station/operator's station during winch up? The Controller and Expediter Skycoaster requires suspending operations when there is lightning within 10 nautical miles. If a flight were landed with the selected hydraulic landing unit setting too light, the hydraulic system on the winch will be inspected. What is the warning phrase that the Assistant Controller uses prior to catching a flight? "Next time back, everyone grab the loop with both hands." Skycoaster requires suspending operation in any precipitation of fog that obscures visibility or creates a slick, wet surface. A Site Controller must be physically present within the perimeter of the flight operations area when the flight is being winched down. Who instructs the flyers to "drop the loop" when there is slack in the rope? The Controller When using the hydraulic landing pole, the pulling resistance experienced by the flyers is similar to picking up a 30 lb suitcase The setting on the hydraulic landing unit will be set by the Controller Per the Skycoaster Owner's Manual, the Omega/Cypher Carabiner must be physically checked for damage before each flight and replaced at a frequency of once per month. When giving the warning and catch phrases, it is necessary for the Assistant Controller to emit a loud, distinct, and clear command. What is the catch phrase administered by the Assistant Controller when catching the flyers? "On the flight line." The snaphook of the ripcord must be clipped to the connector ring at all times except when catching a flight. In the event of an accidental, premature flight less than three-quarters from the top, the flyers must be instructed to grab the loop with both hands and hold on tight. In the event of a winch failure, a Site Controller can winch the flyers to the top of the launch tower. The expediter does not need to position themselves between the flyers and the ride while escorting the flyers to the loading platform. The first flight of the day must be a solo flight completed in a traditional suit Any test flights completed prior to opening are to be done by a qualified maintenance person. The minimum number of crew required for a test flight is three and must include and Assistant Controller, a Controller, and a Test Flyer. The Flight Crew can confirm the flight carabiners are locked by physically squeezing the flight carabiners. During continuous operations, a Site Controller, Controller, or qualified maintenance person verifies the flight carabiners are locked prior to each launch. The Controller will have the flyers drop their footbars before the flight carabiners have been attached. Per the Skycoaster Owner's Manual, a Site Controller must be physically present for all operational aspects of the Skycoaster. Dynamic Loading is the load placed on the rigging and attachments by the swinging motion caused by the flyers. When utilizing a Hydraulic Landing Unit, the Controller will begin winch down when a successful catch has been made. The first flight of the day must be a solo flight but can be made whether in a traditional Flight Suit or a pink suit. The Zoom Zone is the portion of the flight area beyond the attachment area and furthest from the low point. The Attachment Area is the area where flight-suited flyers are connected and disconnected to the launch tower. What is the correct training order? The Flight Suiter, Expediter, Assistant Controller, Controller It is permissible for the Senior Site Controller to make alterations to Site Controller certifications. The flight suit release rings are used to connect the flight suits to the launch release system. The Senior Site Controller or a supervising Site Controller is responsible for reviewing the marked training worksheets for each Skycoaster staff member. It is not required that each Skycoaster staff member initial his/her own training worksheet. In the event of panicked flyers, the flight crew is to stop the winch, communicate with the flyers, and calm them down. The Senior Site Controller or a supervising Site Controller is responsible for reviewing the marked training worksheets for each Skycoaster staff member. It is not required that each Skycoaster staff member initial his/her own training worksheet. The Senior Site Controller is determined by the individual site. He/She oversees all Skycoaster operations. The Senior Site Controller is appointed by a Skycoaster representative to oversee all Skycoaster operations at the site. The Senior Site Controller is the only person authorized to review the Skycoaster Owner's Manual. The Senior Site Controller is determined by who achieves the highest score on the written test and has a minimum of 8 hours of training. Winch controls are always done by the Controller regardless if being on a scissor lift or rolling platform. The Flight Crew refers to the Expediter, Assistant Controller, and Controller. All Site Controller candidates must have completed a minimum of 8 hours training in each position. A Site Controller can fill any position during the operations of the Skycoaster, but being a Site Controller does not mean that you can fill any position. When a site is shorthanded on crew members, one person may perform the duties of the Flight Crew, the Assistant Controller, the Controller, and/or the Expediter. Flight line performance is the sole determining factor in the certification of a new Site Controller. During the proning process on a scissor lift, it is necessary for the Assistant Controller and Controller to confirm that the suspension straps are tightened. During the training process, all initial catches must be made utilizing park personnel only. Winch controls are always done by the Controller regardless if being on a scissor lift or rolling platform. The minimum age for any person working as a member of the Flight Crew is 18. Each new employee must work the first 2 hours in each position under direct supervision of the Senior Site Controller before proceeding. It is the responsibility of the Controller and Assistant Controller, during winch-up, to focus their attention on the flyers and the winch. When preparing candidates for Site Controller certification, it is the responsibility of the Senior Site Controller to ensure that all candidates are ready and have a minimum of eight hours training. The expediter is in control of the gate leading to and from the flight line. A Controller must be at least 17 years of age and must have completed the training worksheet and proof of age. What must be furnished to the Skycoaster representative before testing/certifying new Site Controllers? A purchase order and proof of age for new Site Controllers. Who can be positioned at the winch when the winch is not in line of site and the winch monitor is not in view of the personnel operating the winch? The Assistant Controller Revocation of the license agreement will occur when there are no site controllers on site at any given time. When connecting the flight caribiners to the flight rings, the launch rings need to face towards the winch. When the hydraulic weight settings are set too heavy for the Hydraulic Landing unit during a catch, there is a potential shoulder or arm injury. The short Stainless-steel pin used to secure the end of a shackle pin after the locking nut is inserted should not create a potential for a shoulder or arm injury. The anemometer must be mounted no lower than 3/4 of the way up the flight or launch tower regardless of the site. Regarding the flight path, the minimum low point is 6 feet above ground, but can be reduced based on the capabilities of the site. The Omega/Cypher Carabiner that connects the launch bridle to the launch cable may not be physically checked for damage. In the event of a failure of the hydraulic system on the winch, the overspeed clutch will engage and automatically lower the flyers at a speed that's approximately 20% faster than a normal winch down. The component placed at the top of the flight structure that serves as the attachment point for the launch cable and the counterweight is the connector ring. The Fabric and foam cover that is used to prevent the flight carabiners from contacting the flight structure is called the fairing. The proximity limit switches sense the presence or absence of the launch cable on the winch. The mechanism that prevents high speed, uncontrolled descent of the flyers in the event of a winch failure is the soft-shift valve. The raise enable switch is located on the winch pendant and used to engage and disengage the winch. Located at the e-stop switch station/operator's station and low point switch stations, this combination of two emergency stop buttons are referred to as redundant (backup) connections. All objects that are secured to a Skycoaster tower must have secondary (redundant) connections to prevent a catastrophic incident An anemometer mounted on the Skycoaster attraction is used to measure wind speed. The number of Crosby Wire Rope Clips that are used to secure the secondary loops on the flight cable is 2. What is the U-shaped fastening device that utilizes a bolt-type pin secured by a nut and stainless steel washer? A quick-link. The hydraulic landing unit activates the down safety alarm, if engaged, when the weight setting on the hydraulic landing unit is not matched to the connector ring. The 2 rings that are used to hook each flyer to the flight carabiners are the suspension rings. On what piece of equipment would you find a thimble, swage, and flemish eye? A launch cable. The Flight Carabiners should always be oriented so that the wider side is facing down, and the bolt is facing toward the winch. Copper stoppers may be used to construct a launch cable. They must be appropriately sized to ensure the proper tension on the cable. The triangular shaped cable/tube device that connects the counterweight, the launch cable, and the winch is the launch bridle. The steel carabiners that are stamped "SMC" or "SMC USA" will be checked every 2 hours or as needed before each flight. The oil impregnated bronze piece inserted in flight brackets to allow free movement of the flight cable is called the bushing. The cotter pin on the Flight Bracket must be made of stainless steel. The cable drum has a minimum of 10 wraps when in the down position. A winch camera/monitor is used to observe the flyers and equipment. The hydraulic device that pulls the launch cable is called the winch. The hydraulic landing unit has weight settings for Light: up to 250lbs, Medium: 251-550lbs, and Heavy: 551-1000lbs. The exposed vinyl tubing should have a length of 36" in order to contruct the loop of the landing pole. The hydraulic landing pole has the length of 20ft and should not be closer than 18" of the flyers while on the platform. The hydraulic landing unit has lander settings for Light: 200psi, Medium: 400psi and Heavy: 550psi. If a snap-back of the Perlon Rope occurs on the Hydraulic Landing Unit, the lander will be checked for proper operation based on a visual inspection. Copies of monthly inspections are to be received by Skycoaster by the 5th day of the following month. Inspecting the anchor bolts at the base of the towers is to be completed by a registered engineer at a frequency of once per month. What is required of anyone climbing a Skycoaster tower per the Owner's Manual? They must have completed a training session. When checking the flight and launch tower bases during the daily pre-operation inspection, you must verify that there is no visible damage to the concrete. The weight pressure settings for the hydraulic landing unit must be tested by pulling the rope with sufficient length to extend beyond the low point. What is the launch cable tape flag color for the "Down" setting? Black What is the launch cable tape flag color for the "Flight" setting? Green What is the launch cable tape flag color of the "Up" setting? Red In the event of a lightning strike, who is qualified to perform or supervise the required inspection of the grounding rods and grounding straps? A Registered Engineer If a pin on a carabiner falls out, a qualified maintenance person is authorized to repair the carabiner. The secondary loops are inspected at a minimum interval of once a week. All Hydraulic Fluid must be drained and replaced at a minimum interval of Once per Year Per the Skycoaster Owner's Manual, a completed Skycoaster Inspection Log does not have to be kept on file at the site. A 3rd Party Inspection must take place annually. A 3rd Party Inspection must take place annually. When checking the hydraulic landing unit for adequate amount of Perlon rope, you must be able to extend at least 1 foot beyond the low point switch, which is the stop switch for the winch. The hydraulic bypass valve is to be inspected at a frequency of once a week The overspeed clutch test is a weekly inspection and must be completed prior to opening for the day. When refinishing the end of the launch cable, it is permissible to use 3 Crosby Wire Rope Clips in order to secure the end of the cable.. This is the number of compressions on a properly swaged zinc plated copper sleeve. 30 This is the number of compressions on a properly swaged copper stopper. 30 When sending flight suits to the factory authorized repair center, a copy of the Flight Suit Serial Number must accompany the suit. Flight Suits should be sent to Skycoaster's office for their annual inspection. The shafts and square keys on the winch cable drum motor and load adaptor bearing must be inspected and lubricated at a minimum interval of 2 years. Which of the following is not inspected every day prior to opening? The counterweight cable. The will be inspected a minimum of once per month by slowly climbing down the tower and inspecting the cable for any visible fraying or damage. The correct order to replace a launch cable is to overlap the old and the new cable, tape together, and mark the overlap with a different color tape. In order to inspect the launch cable correctly the cable needs to remain connected to the bridge or tower, and be raised using the winch. Each flight cable is made from either stainless or galvanized steel. All flight cables are capable of withstanding 10,000 lbs of tension. The climbing safety cable is to be inspected prior to each flight. Bird caging is when there is buckling of the wires within a cable. The launch bridle is to be replaced if 1 or more broken wires per leg are found. The standard flight cables are 7/16" in diameter. The flight cables must be checked for broken wires daily. The counterweight cable must be checked for broken wires prior to each flight. The launch cable must be checked for broken wires daily. Per the Skycoaster Owner's Manual, the secondary safety loops must be replaced if 2 or more broken wires are found. The launch cable must be repaired or replaced before any operations if two broken wires are found within a 12 inch space. Stainless Steel Cables are able to hold 9000lbs and galvanized steel cables are able to hold 9000lbs. When fitting a flyer with a flight suit, the flight suit person should ensure that the top of the flight suit is above the shoulder straps, but below the chin straps. The Flight Suiter will determine the flyers flight suits based on weight. The Flight Suiter will determine the flyers flight suit based on height. By reason of the restraint system inherent in the flight suits, it is necessary that flyers possess a past due data card. Suits are to be destroyed if there is a missing suit data card. Past due suits are allowed to be used for training purposes. What is the life span of a flight suit or Skylsed? Two years At a scissor lift site, which of the following positions will announce "The floor is going to fall away"? The Assistant Controller What causes the scissor lift to go up? The manual valve What is the maximum capacity for a scissor lift? 10 people or 2000 pounds Which of the following is false? The wings of the scissor lift boarding platform are: designed to carry all 10 passengers. The aluminum carabiner is used to secure the rolling cart in the safety area during operations. At a rolling boarding platform site, which of the following positions operates the winch? The Controller. On the rolling boarding platform, the Assistant Controller performs the BBL. He/she is checking and confirming backstraps, buckles, and legs. At a site utilizing the rolling boarding platform, what is the first thing the Assistant Controller will perform? Securely tethered in place. The Controller will raise the safety bar on the rolling boarding platform to its up-most position. The rolling boarding platform will be securely tethered in place, after flyers are standing, before disconnecting the safety bar. The ring located on the back of the Sky Sled, used to allow the harness to fold back for easy removal is the release ring. The safety bar on the rolling boarding platform is raised after flyers are standing, before disconnecting the safety bar. The color of the Flight Handles that the flyers hold during the initial freefall are yellow. When utilizing a Sky Sled the tallest flyer must be the ripcord puller. The yellow straps on the Sky Sled, which are grasped by the flyer(s) during their initial descent, are the flight handles.
