Medical Specialist and Their Specialties * Identifying medical specialists and their specialties is made easy by recognizing the meaning of their suffixes attached to the root word. (See Table 1) ## II. Surgical Procedures * A significant number of medical terms refer to surgical procedures. * Suffixes will give you an idea about the types of surgery or procedures performed. (See Table 3). ## III. Symptoms or Diagnosis * Symptoms are common terms used in the medical field to indicate a disorder of disease. * Diagnosis on the other hand is the scientific determination of a disease process or condition after evaluation.
