**Podcast TEST** **Conversation About a New Project** **Rocio:** Hey! I heard you got some good news this week. **Armando:** Yes! I got assigned to the **Company 1** project! **Rocio:** That's great! When did you find out? **Armando:** On Friday, I spoke with my manager, and he confirmed that I'll start working on the project this week. Either today or tomorrow, I'll be introduced to the customer. **Rocio:** That's exciting! How will the introduction go? **Armando:** The top manager will introduce the customer and the team. This week will be full of kick-off meetings. **Rocio:** Is the project already in progress? **Armando:** Yes, it has already started. I will be introduced to the team and assume my new role this week. **Team Structure** **Rocio:** How big is your team this time? **Armando:** This project is structured into **three subgroups**, called **tribes**, with about **30 people in each**. I coordinate these three groups, and each one has a team leader. That's my main role. **Rocio:** Do all teams have the same tasks, or do they work on different areas? **Armando:** Each team has a different focus: - One team works on the **front-end app**. - Another team handles the **back-end application, database, and middleware**. - The third team focuses on **data analysis** for the application. **Rocio:** Which part of the project is facing the biggest issues? **Armando:** Right now, the manager told me that the **back-end team** is struggling the most, especially with meeting delivery deadlines. **Project Deliveries & Challenges** **Rocio:** What kind of deliveries are we talking about? **Armando:** There are two types: 1. **Project deliveries** -- major releases and new features. 2. **Evolutive deliveries** -- small updates or changes to an app that is already in production. For example, if the customer requests a **new feature, a small change, or a new product** from their catalog, that would fall under evolutive deliveries. **Rocio:** Do you have a plan to solve these issues? **Armando:** First, I need to review all the documentation and evaluate if improvements are possible. Then, I'll analyze the team's daily tasks and see what changes can be made. Right now, I don't have a clear answer on how to optimize the process. **Rocio:** What other challenges do you foresee? **Armando:** The biggest challenge is the **size of the team**. I need to get to know everyone and understand their roles. Also, the team is spread across different locations---some people are in **Madrid, Murcia, and Alicante**. Coordinating a remote team so that they work as **a single unit** is going to be a big challenge for me. **Rocio:** So what would you say are your two biggest challenges? **Armando:** First, **improving the work methodology**.\ Second, **managing a team in different locations**. **Confidence & Experience** **Rocio:** What aspects of this project do you feel most confident about? **Armando:** I'm not sure yet. This week, I'll meet the team and the customer, so I still need to evaluate the situation before I can say for sure. **Rocio:** Have you worked with this customer before? **Armando:** No, I've always worked with **Company 2** until now. This is a different customer and a different industry. **Rocio:** Will you need to learn anything specific about this industry? **Armando:** Yes, but it's **not my top priority** right now. My focus is on **project deliveries**, and we have business analysts who handle industry-specific questions. Over time, I'll learn more, but it's not required from the start. **Rocio:** Do you already know some of your team members from past projects? **Armando:** No, **everyone is new** to me. **Rocio:** That sounds like another challenge! **Armando:** Definitely. Managing new people will be a big step for me. Maybe in the future, I can bring in colleagues from my past **Company 2** projects, but not yet. We'll see how things go.
