Abuse: to use wrongly or improperly. Habit: a constant, often unconscious, inclination to perform some act, acquired through its frequent repetition. Dependence: state of being determined, influenced, or controlled by something else; subordination to someone or something needed or greatly desired; required for normal physiological or psychological function. Definitions Abuse potential refers to a drug that is used in non- medical situations, repeatedly or even sporadically, for the positive psychoactive effects it produces. These drugs are characterized by their central nervous system activity. This will then determine the level of regulatory control that will be imposed upon the use of a substance. Definitions Drug addiction: a chronic, often relapsing brain disease that causes compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences to the drug addict and those around them. Drug abuse: non-permissive consumption of certain substance, namely drug that can give certain effects to an individual in which the chronic use of that substance may lead to physical and psychological dependence. It can also be defined as the use of either licit or illicit drug outside or beyond the permitted medical practice or medical justification.
