# Golgi Apparatus The Golgi apparatus is a flat membrane system connected to the endoplasmic reticulum. It packages and releases materials secreted by the cell for external use. # Lysosomes Lysosomes are created by the Golgi apparatus. Their function is to digest waste. # Cytoskeleton The cytoskeleton maintains the shape of the cell. # Centrioles Centrioles are rod-shaped bodies near the nucleus. They are responsible for the movement of substances along the surface of the cell. # Gallbladder Problems with the gallbladder may occur in the right upper quadrant. # Appendix Problems with the appendix may occur in the left lower quadrant. # Integumentary System The integumentary system includes: * **Skin**: responsible for protection, temperature regulation, sensation, excretion, and vitamin D production * **Epidermis**: the outer layer of epithelial tissue * **Dermis**: the thick layer under the epidermis containing arteries, veins, and nerves * **Subcutaneous Layer**: loose connective tissue composed of adipose tissue * **Sebaceous Glands**: produce sebum to keep skin soft and prevent bacteria * **Sudoriferous Glands**: produce sweat to cool the body. # Other details * Skin is the largest organ in the body. * It is the body's first defense against illness.
