MONTINOLA 2023-Present Great Grand Child Nicanor Reyes Sr. 1934-1945 First President of FEU He obtained his Ph.D. in Accountancy and M.A. in Business Administration from Columbia University after he had finished his Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Science in 1917 from New York University and AB from UP in 1915. he had served as the chair of the Department of Economics of the University of the Philippines before he established his own school. Hermenigildo B. Reyes 1945-1946 Second President of FEU One of the founder of the Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration (currently University of the East) Clemente Q. Uson 1946-1949 Third President of FEU He was one of the founder of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Vidal A. Tan 1949-1952 Fourth President of FEU He was an engineer by profession He was a renowned university professor of mathematics. He was a pioneer in the crafting and publication of mathematics textbooks for use locally in colleges and universities nationwide. Teodoro T. Evangelista 1952-1970 Fifth President of FEU He served as Executive Secretary of the President (September 1948-May 1951) and Department of Education Secretary (May-September 1951), both during the presidency of Elpidio Quirino. Nicanor M. Reyes Jr. 1970-1985 Sixth President of FEU He held many positions in FEU and became the Chairman of the Board of FEU-NRMF. He was also a WWII veteran, a professor, and a prolific writer. He was also a driving force behind FEU's innovations, such as selective retention, faculty and employee tenure, and faculty classification. Josephine Cojuangco- Reyes 1985-1989 Seventh President of FEU Elder sister of former Philippine President Cory Aquino Dr. Reyes was first an educator of Far Eastern University Head, Department of Speech and Drama; Principal, Girls High School; Dean, Institute of Arts and Sciences; Vice President for Academic Affairs; Vice President for Administrative Affairs, and finally President from 1985-1989. Dr. Felixberto C. Sta. Maria 1989-1995 Eighth President of FEU M.A. major in English from Stanford University, one of the first, if not the first Filipino, to obtain a Ph.D. in Communication from Michigan State University, a former president of the Philippine Accrediting Agency for Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU), Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP), Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (PACU-COA), a former member of The Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE) and a former consultant and head of technical staff of the Senate Committee on Education, Arts and Culture who reviewed bills on education, arts and culture authored by senators. Dr. Felixberto C. Sta. Maria 1989-1995 Eighth President of FEU One of Dr. Sta. Maria’s significant contributions to FEU was the establishment of President’s Committee on Culture (President's Committee on Culture (PCC) - Far Eastern University) in 1990 aiming to increase cultural awareness of the FEU community and re-establish the University’s former prominence in the field of arts and culture. Edilberto C. de Jesus 1995-2002 Ninth President of FEU Former Professor Emeritus and President of Asian Institute of Management In 1987, President Corazon Aquino appointed him Deputy Peace Commissioner, on secondment from AIM, where he was Chair of the Rural Development Management Program. In 1988, he received a concurrent appointment in the Cabinet as Presidential Adviser on Rural Development (1988-1992). Edilberto C. de Jesus 1995-2002 Ninth President of FEU His leadership, anchored on the philosophy of Total Quality Management (TQM), centered on the sustained growth and development of the faculty, curricula, facilities, researches and outreach functions. Lydia B. Echauz 2002-2012 Tenth President of FEU She also serves as a Director for the following companies under the MVP Group: Global Business Power Corporation, PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund, and Philstar Group. She is a Director in the following private companies as well: FERN Realty Corporation, Riverside College, Inc., NBS College, Inc., Henry Sy Foundation, Inc., Felicidad Sy Foundation, Inc., SM Foundation, Inc., DNL Industries, Inc., and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. Lydia B. Echauz 2002-2012 Ninth President of FEU She has personally served as a bridge between academe and industry. She is extremely effective in bringing together academic and business leaders that usually have widely different views on how to educate the youth. By applying best practices from industry to educational management, she has helped make FEU one of the most profitable publicly-listed corporations in the country. At the same time, she has ensured academic quality within FEU by instituting reforms in governance, recruitment and retention, and curriculum development. Michael M. Alba 2012-2023 Tenth President of FEU Dr. Alba has taken his PhD in Applied Economics from Stanford University, MA in Economics from the University of the Philippines (UP), and AB in Economics from Ateneo de Manila University. He has been a consultant of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and theUS Agency for International Development (US AID) both in the fields of education and economics. He was president, vice president, and member of the board of directors of the Philippine Economic Society, a member of the Millenium Development Goals Task Forces on Gender and on Education. Michael M. Alba 2012-2023 Tenth President of FEU In his tasks at and leadership of FEU, Dr. Alba will certainly be helped by his having been dean of the College of Business and Economics of De La Salle University (DLSU) from 2001 to 2006, and from having been assistant professor and associate professor in Economics at UP and DLSU for more than a decade. He has also experienced the educational atmosphere abroad not only as a student but also as a teacher. He was an exchange professor at Waseda University in 1999 Dr. Alba has also helped shape on a national scale the academic study of Economics by being a member of the Technical Committee for Economics of the Commission on Higher Education. JUAN MIGUEL R. MONTINOLA 2023 - Present Eleventh President of FEU Montinola, known as JRM, has been the chief finance officer of FEU from 2010 and one of the principal authors of FEU Aspirations for 2015-2020 and 2020-2028. He has also been a key player in the expansion moves of the university. JUAN MIGUEL R. MONTINOLA 2023 - Present Eleventh President of FEU Prior to joining FEU, Montinola was the CEO and country manager of Lafarge Cementi S.r.l. (Italy) from 2006 to 2008, and president of Republic Cement Corporation from 1996 to 2006. Montinola has extensive senior management as well as board level experiences in several corporations and foundations. He earned degrees in Master of Business Administration from the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland in 1989, and a B.A. in Economics from College of William & Mary in the US in 1983.
