Taylor - Founder of Scientific Management. 1915 - Franck and Lilian Gilbreth - a husband and wife tandem known as the “efficiency experts”. The first scientist to improve and reduce fatigue. They were known with the time and motion analysis. Brief Summary of I/O Psychology 1917 - Journal of Applied Psychology was published 1920 - World War I Personnel Psychology was born through the recruitment of soldiers. Types of Test: Army Alpha - intelligence test for soldiers who can read. Army Beta - for those who cannot read. Brief Summary of I/O Psychology John B. Watson - developed a perceptual and motor test for potential pilots. 1930's - Hawthorne - studies conducted by Psychologist was focused on improving the working environment. Hawthorne Effect - Employees still achieved high productivity despite any change with the variables because they were being observed and their managers were giving them so much attention. Brief Summary of I/O Psychology 1960s - this was characterized with the passage of civil rights legislations on selection techniques. It made use of sensitively training and T-groups. 1970s - BF. Skinners’ book Beyond Freedom and Dignity resulted in increased attention on Behavior Modifications. Brief Summary of I/O Psychology 2000s - the greatest influence of I/O is the rapid advances of technology. Women in the workforce and taking managerial roles.
