MAPEH 8 Physical Education 8 TEAM SPORTS There are team sports that can enhance different fitness like basketball and volleyball. These team sports require certain fitness levels to enjoy the game. What are the different activities that may improve coordination? Balloon Kick – It is a hand and feet coordination drill. It is performed by tossing a balloon just like you are tossing a ball. Due to the light weight of a balloon, It may fall in a different direction, and you may be difficult to kick. What are the different activities that may improve AGILITY AND REACTION TIME? Wall Pass – This is a partner drill that requires good agility and reaction time. Using a basketball or Volleyball or a similarly sized ball, bounce it against the wall going to your partner to catch it and vice versa. What are the different activities that may improve AGILITY AND REACTION TIME? Balloon Toss – It is a partner activity where two different inflated colored balloons are used. What are the different activities that may improve POWER AND ENDURANCE? Squat Jumps – It is a practice drill of squatting and jumping. What are the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN DOING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES? Warm-up and cool-down activities are necessary before and after physical activities Check how you feel when exercising. Drink a lot of water to replace the lost fluids. What are the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN DOING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES? Make sure that you follow the right techniques in performing it. Make sure you wear the right attire and gear when doing physical activities. Common sports injuries and their first aid Dislocation It is the misalignment of two connected joints that have come apart. It happens when a body part experiences an extreme force that causes it to be dislodged from its proper position. Dislocation Do not move the affected area. Attempting to move back the dislocated joint may worsen the injury Use an Ice pack in the area around the joint to reduce swelling Give a pain reliever like ibuprofen or acetaminophen Dislocation FRACTURE It is also called a “Broken Bone”. It occurs when the forces against the bone are stronger than it could take. This may result from direct impact, fall, or trauma to a bone. FRACTURE If it is bleeding, cover the wound to control it. Check if there is a fracture especially if the person came from a fall. Make sure that the patient is immobilized Put a padded splint on the injured part. Call a doctor for help. FRACTURE THANK YOU!
