S OJO Cells are complex and their components perform various functions They come in different shapes and sizes, pretty much like bricks of buildings. Cells are separated from their external environment by an interface or plasma membrane. Everything inside the plasma membrane is referred to as protoplasm, which consist of a cytoplasm and various suspended cellular structures collectively known as organelles, including the membrane bound nucleus. Each organelle represents a highly specialized compartment in which particular functions of the cell are localized They perform specific jobs which includes: Transport of materials Energy capture and release Protein building Waste disposal Information storage Carbohydrate Process molecules chain Process molecules Process Lipids channel bilayer
