Topic 1: The Origin of the Universe COSMOLOGY is the branch of science that studies the origin, evolution and fate of the universe. What is a Universe? Termed as all existing matter and space considered as a whole; the cosmos. The universe is believed to be at least 10 billion light years in diameter and contains a vast number of galaxies. It has been expanding since its creation in the Big Bang about 13.9 billion years ago. How the Universe vine Creation Theory Across our planet there are lots of different beliefs on how our universe began. This theory stated that there is Steady State Theory Proposed in 1948 by Fred Hoyle, Thomas Gold and Herman Bondi. It states that the universe has been present ever since and therefore has no beginning and no end, and has been expanding constantly. This theory, known as Steady State Theory. In the steady-state model, the density of matter in the expanding universe remains unchanged due to a continuous creation of matter, The Bigbang Theory In 1927, an astronomer named Georges Lemaître had a big idea. He said that a very long time ago, the universe started as just a single point. He said the universe stretched and expanded to get as big as it is now, and that it could keep on stretching. The Bigbang Theory According to this theory, about 10 to 20 billion years ago, matter and energy were compressed and condensed in a hot tiny dense mass. In fact, matter and energy back then were theorized as the same and indistinguishable from each other. But due to random fluctuations, this tiny dense and compact point exploded tremendously. This explosion is termed as the Big Why Bigbang?? As scientists observed, the distance of galaxies are getting farther and farther away. Scientist also observed about the relic radiation. Cosmic Microwave Pulsating Theory The pulsating universe combines both big bang and the big crunch as part of cyclical event. If this theory holds true, then the universe in which we live in exists between a big bang and big crunch. This theory says that the universe follows infinite self-sustaining cycles such as expanding and contracting. TRIVIA PARALLEL UNIVERSE - a universe theorized as existing alongside our own, although undetectable. - "the concept of parallel universes is not widely accepted in physics, but is gaining ground" Any Questions ???
