# Chem review **Qualitative:** These are observations that are descriptive and do not contain numbers. Collected by your 5 senses. **Quantitative:** These observations contain a measurement or count, usually associated with numbers. **Inference:** Inferences are based on your observations. It is when the observer jumps to a conclusion based on what they have observed. # Scientific Method The scientific method has 6 steps: 1. **Purpose/Question:** The beginning of the lab. 2. **Hypothesis:** The part of the lab where you make an educated guess. 3. **Materials:** The list of items you need to complete the lab. 4. **Procedure:** A set of instructions you need. 5. **Analysis:** The part of the lab where you record your data. 6. **Conclusions:** Where you summarize your findings.
