-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parts and Format of a Quantitative Research Paper One of the most important aspects of completing the research work is ensuring that you get all the parts of the written research paper in the right order. The parts of the research paper are the building blocks of constructing a well-written report. For quantitative research, these are general parts. Matrix of the Research Report (General Format) PARTS CONTENT AND FORMAT A Quantitative Research Study Presented to the Faculty of the Integrated School – Grades 11 & 12 University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Cover Page Seven single spaces below, the following is typed: In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for Inquiries, Investigations, and Immersion The title of the study is fully capitalized, centered at the top of the page. The names of the student researchers are typed one space below as previously Title Page arranged and typed but appearing as a single line. A single space below it is the name of the department, followed by the name of the university a single space below. The abstract contains only 150 to 250 words and summarizes the entirety of the Abstract paper while containing the main problem, variables, methods, basic findings or results, important conclusions, and implications or applications. Acknowledgement Acknowledgements enable you to thank all those who have helped in carrying out the research. The general advice is to express your appreciation in a concise Page manner and to avoid strong emotive language. The brief, one-page Acknowledgment page is recommended. Table of This is an organized listing of the chapters and major sections of your research Contents paper. This is an organized listing of the tables used and presented in the research List of Tables paper. List of Figures or This is an organized listing of figures such as diagrams, pictures and illustrations Illustrations included in the research paper. List of Formulae/ This is an organized listing of the formula, equations, as well as acronyms with Equations/ their meaning, used and presented in the research paper. Acronyms PARTS CONTENT AND FORMAT Chapter 1 defines the problem and structure of the paper (Neri, 2015). It presents the problem being investigated, provides the necessary background Chapter 1 and setting to establish the context, and justifies the need to conduct the study INTRODUCTION (RPDO Policies and Guidelines, 2010). A two-page backgrounder begins the chapter, four spaces below the heading. This subsection presents the general problem of the study and specific or sub problems that would help in the analyses of the result. The general or main Statement of problem is expressed in a form of a statement while the specific and sub the Problem problems, both descriptive and inferential, are presented in the form of questions. Research objectives may replace this section as appropriate for the research. The study should adopt a null hypothesis, as a standard. An introductory line Hypothesis presents the hypotheses for the general problem, followed by numbered paragraphs for the hypotheses of subsequent specific or sub-problems. Theoretical Background, Existing theories surrounding the study, as well as logical coherent discussion Review of of concepts begin the section, with a comprehensive and exhaustive review of literature and related studies. Related Literature, and The section ends in a schematic diagram that effectively illustrates the Conceptual relationships between and among the research themes using appropriate Framework symbols. This section should include the coverage and boundaries of the study in terms Scope and of the field of interest, variables and participants, locality, and time covered Limitations of during investigation. It may include the population or sample, the variables the Study covered in the study, the expected output or product, and the extent of applicability of results. Researchers present detailed explanations of the importance of the study Significance of undertaken to particular fields, groups of people, and filling in gaps in existing the Study knowledge. Conceptual and operational definitions of key terms in the study are presented Definition of in this section. Conceptual definitions, taken from references and properly cited, Terms are stated before operational definitions, which explain how the terms are used in the study. PARTS CONTENT AND FORMAT Chapter 2 The chapter contains four subparts, with the first typed four spaces below the METHODOLOGY first-level heading. This section should explain the design used in the study and justify its use and appropriateness for the study. They may be quantitative, qualitative, or a Research Design combination of both (mixed) types of research designs. It should be categorized as appropriate. Make sure this justification addresses why qualitative methodology is best suited to address your research questions. This section should describe the individuals involved in the data gathering of the study, their demographic characteristics including the percentage by variables and categories, location, setting during the data gathering, sample size and Participants/ response rate, the sampling technique used in recruiting the participants. Variables In the case of experimental studies, the Variables are described instead of the Participants. This section describes research instruments for descriptive studies, the procedures for obtaining the reliability and validity tests and standardization. Also, it should describe the parts of the instrument; the purpose of each part; Measures the construction of the instrument, the scale used in answering the questionnaire. For experimental studies, this section should contain materials, data sets, methods, stimuli, instrument testing, technical equipment, 2 and all other material used. Detailed equipment description should be included to allow replication of the study by future researchers. The section describes the execution of the study in a detailed and chronological fashion. This includes three major parts: Data Gathering, Data Analysis, and Statistical Treatment. Ethical Considerations should be presented as Procedures necessary here, as well as data analysis, schematic diagrams, materials design, and other subsections as necessary. Statistical treatment should also be explained, with justification for the appropriateness of such tools in the study. PARTS CONTENT AND FORMAT Chapter 3 RESULTS, The chapter opens with an introductory paragraph typed four spaces below the DISCUSSION, first-level heading of the chapter, followed by the discussions of each subsection. AND IMPLICATIONS This section summarized collected data, and presents all relevant results of statistical analysis. Every descriptive and inferential result is followed by a discussion that interprets the result in the context of the objectives of the study. Results and It should explain whether the results of analysis conform to or disputes existing Discussion theory, and affirms or denies the hypotheses set out earlier in the paper. It should also explain consistency or inconsistencies, and should be supported by literature. This section presents the researchers’ brief commentary on the importance, and Implications applications of the results to existing theory and practice, as enrichment for the field of interest. PARTS CONTENT AND FORMAT Chapter 4 The chapter opens with an introductory paragraph typed four spaces CONCLUSIONS below the first-level heading of the chapter, followed by the discussions AND RECOMMENDATIONS of each subsection. This section should include statements of generalization made by the researchers Conclusions based on the results of the study, organized based on the problems identified in the Introduction. This section presents what researchers think should be done by or to the Recommendati individuals/groups stipulated in the significance of the study based on the ons conclusions of the study. Chapter 5 This section includes action plan, strategic plan, business plan, marketing plan, PROPOSED curriculum map, remedial program, reading program, enhancement program, PROGRAM/ syllabus, and corporate social responsibility, among others. OUTPUT 3 The first-level heading of this section is followed two spaces after by a list of references of all sources, arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author of the source material. All sources are to be in APA reference format. The section is double-spaced between references but single-spaced between lines of the same reference. Each reference should have its first line indent on the left margin, and its hanging indent 0.5in to the left of the left margin. At least 40 REFERENCES references should be listed, at least 75% of which should be online peer-reviewed journals with digital object identifier numbers. The rest may be filled in by more journals, books, newspapers, magazines, and other qualified sources, including the references for the definition of terms. Wikipedia articles, blogs, unpublished articles, disreputable journals, documents authored before 1980, and studies that have not been peer-reviewed are not allowed. Appendices include all documents: written communications, raw data, research questionnaire and statistical computations. that are essential to the validity of the study but should not be presented as part of the main APPENDICES body of the study. The first-level heading is followed by all materials separated by page, labeled using capital letters (e.g. Appendix A). Original documents must be scanned.
