Reticular layer strengthens the skin and provides our skin with elasticity. SKIN COLOR Factors: 1. pigments in the skin 2. blood circulating through the skin 3. thickness of stratum corneum Melanin- pigments responsible for skin, hair and eye color SUBCUTANEOUS TISSUE -hypodermis It has many important functions, Attaches the skin to the underlying including: -storing energy muscle and bone and supplies it with -connecting the dermis layer of your skin to your muscles and blood vessels and nerves bones Loose connective tissue, including -insulating your body and protecting your body from harm. adipose tissue and contains about half the body’s stored lipids As you age, your hypodermis decreases in size, and your skin starts to sag. ACCESSORY SKIN STRUCTURES 1. HAIR Hair follicle Shaft Root Hair bulb ACCESSORY SKIN STRUCTURES 2. GLANDS Sebaceous glands Sweat glands a. eccrine b. apocrine 3. NAILS YOU DEFINE BEAUTY YOURSELF. SOCIETY DOESN’T DEFINE YOUR BEAUTY. LADY GAGA
