In collaboration with a global consulting firm, LIC will comprehensively review and revamp its existing agency framework at the branch, division, and zonal levels. 8 Bharat Bill Payment System mandate for Credit Card Payments Starting 1 July 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that all banks process credit card bill payments through the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS). Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), BBPS is a unified platform designed to handle all forms of bill payments across the country. RBI imposes penalty on HSBC Recently, the RBI has imposed a ₹29.6 lakh penalty on HSBC for non-compliance with directions related to card operations. Following a Statutory Inspection (ISE 2022), the RBI found HSBC failed to adhere to its guidelines, leading to the penalty after reviewing the bank’s responses and submissions. RBI raises limit for short-term borrowing for states, UTs from 1 July Starting 1 July, the RBI has increased the aggregate Ways and Means Advances (WMA) limit for states and UTs to ₹601.18 billion from ₹470.10 billion. This special short-term borrowing facility helps manage cash flow mismatches. Paytm partnered with Axis Bank to offer POS solutions On 23 July 2024, Paytm partnered with Axis Bank to provide point-of-sale (POS) solutions and electronic data capture (EDC) devices to merchants.
