# Generalidades de la Modernidad The history of humanity is the sum of a series of events that make us understand that all scientific and technological advancements that we enjoy today are the product of the high obligation that we must do in search of our origins and our bases. This is how in this course you will know the development of humanity in the last two epochs: Modern and Contemporary. We begin this journey with the study of the Modern Age. In the study of this lesson, the most outstanding facts of the series of economic, political and social transformations that begin the so-called modern times are presented. ## Antecedentes de la Edad Moderna The closest antecedent that breaks with the customs of the Middle Ages is found in the crusades, which were religious, economic and political struggles between Christians and Turks in Asia Minor; these crusades will influence the change that will take place from the feudal economy to the capitalist one. In this period, the bourgeoisie strengthens by promoting trade in the regions, causing industries and cities to grow. Thus, while the authority of the feudal lord diminishes, that of the kings increases. The context of the situation described above, causes changes in the economic, political, social and religious order that indicate the end of the feudal society based on land ownership and vassalage, to give way to commercial activities, cultural development and the individuality of society, of the new era called the Modern Age. ## Ubicación Cronológica de la Edad Moderna In History, we are helped with chronology to locate the time in which the event occurred that is worthy of our study. Chronology is the science that helps us calculate the time in which a historical event occurred. Thus, everything built by man is framed on a timeline, with approximate dates that mark the beginning and end of the periods, allowing us to better identify, according to the characteristics presented, the main historical events. We make the reservation that humanity, for a better study, divides these events into periods or ages, framing them in dates, however, we must highlight that a single event is not enough to establish a limit for a period or age because historical events divide these into periods or ages, because the historical events
