**Genetics** **Inheriting a specific disease, condition, or trait depends on the type of chromosome affected. What are the two chromosomes that are classified?** Autosomes: Non-sex chromosomes (pairs 1-22) Sex chromosomes: Determine the sex of an individual (X and Y) **What type of Genes come in pairs?** Autosomal chromosomes have 23 pairs, totaling 46 chromosomes. Sex chromosomes (X and Y) have one pair. -- -- -- -- **What is the chance of inheritance of the abnormal dominant inheritance gene that one parents must carry that is defective to cause disease, to your offspring?** A single abnormal gene from one parent is enough to cause disease. Chance of inheritance is 50% for an affected child and 50% for a non-affected child if one parent carries the gene. -- -- -- -- **What is the chance of inheritance of the x-linked single recessive gene. That amles have only one X chromosome that is defective to cause disease, to your offspring?**
