# Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala Azar) ## Symptoms * Spleenomegaly * Hepatomegaly * Night Sweats * Fever * Blackening of Skin * Scaly Skin * Cough * Weakness & Weight loss ### Mnemonic She Had No Fever But She Complained of Weakness # Clinical features and pathology ### Incubation: 6 weeks - 6 months * Mild irregular fever * Often accompanied with chills and sweating * Cough * Diarrhea * Dizziness * Vomiting * Bleeding gums * Pain in limbs * Weight loss * Enlargement of spleen and liver * Lymphadenopathy (particularly of the mesentries. Amastigotes are found in pharyngeal and nasal secretions) * The patient become anemic, thrombocytopenic and leucopenic.
