FROM FERTILIZATION TO IMPLANTATION SCIENCE 10 GROUP 5 Mary Nhiffrity Pongos unknown what happens during fertilization and implantation? During fertilization, the sperm and egg unite in one of the fallopian tubes to form a zygote. Then the zygote travels down the fallopian tube, where it becomes a morula. Once it reaches the uterus, the morula becomes a blastocyst. The blastocyst then burrows into the uterine wall — a process called implantation. DEFINITION Fertilization Implantation The process of combining the male The process in which a blastocyst, gamete, or sperm, with the female or fertilized egg, attaches to the gamete, or ovum. The product of uterine wall during pregnancy fertilization is a cell called a zygote. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE EGG CELL ONCE IT IS FERTILIZED? summary of the stages of reproduction, from ovulation to implantation. 1. Egg cells are formed in the ovaries. 2. Each month, one ovary releases a mature egg in a process known as ovulation. The ovaries alternately release an egg. 3. Once released from the ovary, the egg moves into the fallopian tube, or oviduct. Once attached, it will remain there for nine months as it develops into a baby. THANK YOU
