Trauma - A deeply upsetting or distressing experience that can affect a person\'s emotions or mental health. Amnesia - Memory loss, usually due to injury or stress. Disassociative personality disorder - A condition where a person has two or more separate identities or personalities. OCD - A disorder where people have uncontrollable thoughts and feel they must repeat certain actions or behaviors. Neurologist - A doctor who treats brain and nervous system problems. Psychiatrist - A doctor who treats mental health conditions, often with medication. Psychologist - A person trained to help people with mental health problems, usually through talking and therapy. Phobia - An extreme fear of something, like spiders or heights. Sigmund Freud - A psychologist who developed theories about the mind and human behavior. Electro convulsive therapy - A treatment for severe depression that involves sending electrical impulses to the brain. **[STRESS / BULLYING UNIT]** Homeostasis - When the body keeps everything in balance, like body temperature and blood pressure. Adrenaline - A hormone released in stressful situations that prepares the body to either fight or run away. Fight or flight - The body's natural response to danger, where you either stay and fight or run away. The General Adaptation Syndrome is 3 parts Alarm stage - Body's first reaction to stress. Resistance stage - The body tries to cope with stress. Exhaustion stage - he body becomes very tired after long-term stress. Distress - Negative stress that can cause harm. Eustress - Positive stress that motivates or helps you perform better. Bystander - Someone who sees bullying but doesn't get involved.= Bully - Someone who hurts or intimidates others on purpose. Victim - The person who is being bullied. **[FIRST AID UNIT]** First step to control severe bleeding is to apply pressure to the wound with a clean cloth. The second step in controlling severe bleeding is to elevate the injured part, Heat Exhaustion - A condition from too much heat, causing weakness, sweating, and dizziness. Heat Stroke - A serious heat-related illness where the body overheats and can't cool down. Concussion - A brain injury caused by a blow to the head, leading to confusion and possible memory loss. Convulsion - Uncontrolled shaking or jerking of the body, often from a seizure. Avulsion - When a body part or tissue is torn away. Amputation - The loss or removal of a body part. 1st Degree Burn - A mild burn that makes the skin red and painful. 2nd Degree Burn - A burn that causes blisters and deeper skin damage. 3rd Degree Burn - A severe burn that destroys skin and tissue, possibly causing numbness. Tendons - Strong tissues that connect muscles to bones. **[ALCOHOL UNIT]** Diuretic - A substance that makes you urinate more, like alcohol. Liver - The organ that processes and filters substances in the body, including alcohol. Delirium tremens - A severe reaction to alcohol withdrawal, causing confusion and shaking. Al-Anon / Alateen /Alcohol Anonymous - Support groups for people affected by alcohol use. Ethanol - The type of alcohol found in alcoholic drinks. Cirrhosis - Liver damage caused by long-term drinking. F.A.S. - A condition in babies caused by a mother drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Age to drink in America - The legal age for drinking alcohol is **21**. D.U.I. - Driving after drinking alcohol or using drugs. D.W.I. - A term for driving when drunk or high. Blackout - A period of memory loss from drinking too much alcohol. BAC.40 - A very high blood alcohol level, which can be life-threatening. BAC.50 - An extremely dangerous level of alcohol in the blood, leading to possible death. **[DRUGS UNIT]** Cocaine - A drug that makes people feel energetic but can cause heart problems and addiction. Fentanyl - A strong painkiller that can be deadly in small amounts, often abused. Marijuana - A drug that can make people feel relaxed but may affect thinking and memory. Depressant - A drug that slows down the body and brain, like alcohol or sleeping pills. Crack - A form of cocaine that is smoked, causing a fast, intense high. Steroids male changes - Using steroids can cause men to grow more body hair, have deeper voices, or develop other physical changes. Ecstasy - A drug that causes feelings of happiness but can also cause dehydration and confusion. PCP - A dangerous drug that causes hallucinations and violent behavior. GHB - A drug that can make people feel sleepy or lose consciousness; it's sometimes used to commit crimes.
