Contemporary Philippine Music Refers to the compositions that have adopted the ideas and elements from 20th century art music in the west, as well as the latest trend and musical styles in the entertainment industry. Our Music Heroes European countries and the US are considered first-world nations, while the Philippines is still classified as a third-world country, particularly in terms of economy and technology. Being an artist is being concerned with one’s craft rather than the fame and fortune There are good number of Filipino artists whose lives and works are remarkably significant and worthy of study and emulation. Most of them are no longer present but learning about their contribution can make you realize that “Someday, I can also make my country proud” Aside from the inspiration and values that they can give, their musical contributions to our country are irreplaceable. Unlike most composers, none of Alfredo’s parents were musicians. He was just an ordinary kid who fell in love with music and pursued it.
