Communication and Globalization ESTELITO ROSA SALUT, JR. Faculty of School of Management and Entrepreneurship Director of University Media and Information office Individuals comprise society. Humans are considered to be superior to animals because of their ability to communicate. Communication has always played and will continue to play an important role in the survival of human life. No human being can survive if he or she does not communicate. Initially, communication was only at the intra- personal level, defining it as intra-personal communication. Inter-personal communication arose as a result of the gradual increase in interaction between individuals. Communication expanded its scope to include group communication, organizational communication, and finally mass communication. We live in the twenty-first century, which is well known for its advancements in science and information technology. Emails, the internet, faxes, phones, mobile phones, and television are all very common nowadays. And it is through the use of these tools that communication has become easier, faster, and more reliable. The world is getting both bigger and smaller as technology advances. At the touch of a button, we can now communicate with people all over the world. Globalization is having a fascinating impact on how we communicate and learn. We are broadening our understanding of fellowship while also deepening our educational experiences as we become more connected. The rise in internet use, in particular, has been extremely beneficial in improving the ways in which we connect with one another. It now takes no time to communicate from one end of the world to the other. In this context, the entire world is viewed as a single community linked by electronic communication systems. Thus, globalization can be achieved through the integration and democratization of the world's culture, economy, and infrastructure through transnational investment, the rapid proliferation of communication and information technologies, and the effects of free markets on local, regional, and national economies. Consider two children taking an online math course together, one from Texas and one from Japan. These two students are able to share not only the math class content but also their cultural perspectives. This extra component is not a minor detail. This type of exchange broadens your perception of what parts of the world are accessible to you, laying the groundwork for an evolved worldview. Globalization is primarily concerned with the interconnectedness of people on a global scale. We have become so accustomed to not only Western cultures but also other cultures as a result of globalization. Globalization can be seen in the influence of Hollywood, McDonald's, and changes in language, culture, and dress. The process of globalization is a two-way street. Globalization would not have been possible if there had been no mass media. The mass media is responsible for information spreading from one part of the world to another in seconds. As a result, we can say that globalization and mass media are inextricably linked. Globalization is only possible because of mass media, and on the other hand, mass media advances as a result of globalization. Globalization has enabled people to stay up to date on all of the world's events. Another wonderful advantage of globalization is that it makes the world more accessible and equitable in general. Search engines, Ebooks, online courses, and other forms of virtual education enable more people to learn about subjects that used to be reserved for those with a certain level of income or social standing. Information is no longer as restricted, allowing us to not only receive information but also enter academic spaces and contribute. Globalization makes it possible for ideas to cross borders and social classes.
