SHIPBOARD provision. ORGANIZATION ENGINE STEWARD ENGINE DEPARTMENT Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the propulsion systems and the support systems for the crew and cargo. Responsible that Engineers make proper entries into Oil Record Book and Engine Logbook Second Engineer (1st Assistant Responsible for planning, scheduling, delegating, and directing of the Engineer) maintenance plan inside the engine room Third Engineer (2nd Assistant Responsible for normal maintenance and watchkeeping duties. Motorman / Oiler Inspection and maintenance of pumps, motors, turbines, and condensers on board. Care for those including greasing, lubricating, de-rusting and painting if necessary Under direct supervision of 2nd Engineer- make the engine room clean. Including sounding bilge and bunker tanks. Wiper Support ranks above him In charge of general cleanliness of engine rooms, engine workshop, and engine control rooms. RANKING JOB DESCRIPTION Wiper Assisting the engineers in cleaning the purifiers, dismantling motoes, and routines maintenance. Engine Cadet Direct supervision of 2nd Engineer in his training scheme. Various jobs- normally paired with the Engineers, electricians and ratings. STEWARD DEPARTMENT Also called as Galley catering department = Preparing meals for the crew. This department primarily handles food preparation, housekeeping, and hospitality services. Chief Steward/Chief Cook Direct and supervises the planning and preparation of meals. Responsible for cost control and requisition of provisions Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness inside the galley and provision room Messman In charge of cleaning the cabins Wiper In charge of mess hall – keep clean and orderly; prepare the tables In charge of washing the dishes and filling the fridge that crew needs
