American Heritage Dream Trip Cell Phone, iPad, Internet and Social Media Contract Cell phones detract from the overall educational value of your child’s experience. In order to alleviate the fears and concerns of some parents, a set of rules and guidelines have been designed to allow restricted use of cell phones on the trip for emergency and parent contact only. Cell Phone Rules: 1. Cell phones will not be used during educational touring or any time the group or individuals are in the process of learning. 2. Cell phones will not be used on the bus, unless told otherwise by chaperones. 3. Cell phone use will not be allowed during meals, unless told otherwise by chaperones. 4. Cell phone ringers should be turned off and placed on vibrate/airplane mode only. 5. Students must be responsible for their own cell phone and accessories. 6. Chaperones, tour guides, or parents will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of a student’s cell phone, charger, or any accessories. 7. In most situations, it will not be possible to retrieve a cell phone that has been left behind. 8. Students MAY use cell phones in their hotel room before getting ready for lights out to call family members during designated times only. 9. With that said, any and all phone usage will not be allowed after lights out. Time in the hotel room should be spent showering, sleeping, and preparing for the next day. 10. Remember, this trip is a learning experience that you don’t want to miss out on. Keep cell phone use, including social media, games, texting, etc. to a minimum and only when given permission by a chaperone. 11. Please respect other student’s privacy. Photos and videos of others should not be taken and/or posted on social media without their permission. 12. Reminder: We are three hours ahead of California time. Please keep this in mind when contacting your child or when they contact you. Please limit your communication to your child during the day because they will be in the process of learning (this includes phone calls, text messages, or any other forms of communication). iPad Rules: 1. School iPads will be used for taking notes, photos, or working on their trip project but not for personal use while on the tour. 2. iPads should be charged to 100% every morning. 3. Students must be responsible for their own iPad and accessories. 4. iPads are school property and must be treated as such. Internet and Social Media Rules: 1. Internet use should be for learning purposes only. 2. Students MAY use social media to post appropriate trip related content only during designated times. Students will not be on social media (or phone at all) after lights out. 3. Phones may not be used after lights out including, phone calls, text messaging, social media messaging, games, and social media usage and posting. 4. Photos, videos, and live streaming on social media should never take place in the hotel room. It is a private space and should be treated as such. 5. Please respect other student’s privacy. Photos, videos, and live streaming should not be posted on social media without their permission. 6. Students will not post or share offensive or inappropriate images, language, video, or content. 7. Disrespectful comments and behavior online will not be tolerated and consequences will be enforced. Chaperones reserve the right to investigate inappropriate use of a student’s cell phone or iPad. If any of the above rules are violated, it could result in consequences including: reporting the misuse to the parent, confiscating the student’s cell phone or iPad, limited usage, etc. My child and I have read the above rules/guidelines. We understand that any violate of the rules will result in an immediate and appropriate consequence. We fully understand this is our one and only warning. _______________________________ Printed Student Name _______________________________ Student Signature _______________________________ Printed Parent Name _______________________________ Parent Signature _______________________________ Student Cell Phone Number _______________________________ Parent Cell Phone Number
