It is typically modifies a verb but can also modify an adjective or another adverb. Types of Adverbs A. Adverbs of Time tells us when an action is done. Protagonists often have a tragic flaw. Most of the time, farce drama overacts or engages slapstick humor. We are meeting later for dinner. I haven’t seen him recently. He moved to a new city last year. We’ve been friends since childhood. I’ll call you tomorrow. Types of Adverbs B. Adverbs of Place tells where an action occurs. Dramatic plays are performed in a theatre. The plot happened in Venice, Italy. She looked everywhere for her keys. The cat is hiding underneath the couch. He is standing behind the tree. The birds are flying above the clouds. Please put the book there. Types of Adverbs C. Adverbs of Manner tells us how an action occurs. A farce is a genre of drama made nonsensically. Comedy scripts are written lightly. She danced gracefully at the party. They worked hard to complete the assignment on time. She smiled happily when she received the gift. The team played brilliantly and won the match. Types of Adverbs D. Adverbs of Degree tells us to what extent an action occurs. It is absolutely entertaining. The stories are quite comedic. She’s barely awake after pulling an all- nightery.
