# Mometrix ## Normal Values - PCO2: 41-51 mm Hg (pulmonary venous carbon dioxide pressure) - PvO2: 35-49 mm Hg (pulmonary venous oxygen pressure) - SvO2: 60-80% (pulmonary venous oxygen saturation) If there is a decrease in SvO2, then the oxygenation is not sufficient for tissue needs. ## Left Atrial Pressure Left atrial pressure may be monitored in the post-surgical period by way of a catheter inserted during surgery into the left atrium from the right superior pulmonary vein or through the left atrial appendage. Oxygen saturation of blood in the left atrium should be 100%. ### Left Atrial Pressures: - Normal values: 1-2 mm Hg higher than right atrial pressure (4-12 mm Hg). Pressure above 12-14 post-surgically is cause for concern. - Increased pressure may indicate an increase in end-diastolic pressure of the left ventricle, a decrease in function, hypertrophy, heart failure, or an increase in left ventricular afterload. An increase may also indicate mitral valve stenosis, backflow, or thrombus obstruction, a significant right to left shunt, excessive intravascular volume, tachycardia with arrhythmias, or cardiac tamponade. - Decreased pressure may indicate a decrease in intravascular fluid or insufficient preload. ## Pulmonary Artery Pressure and Pulmonary Artery/Capillary Wedge Pressure Pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) is measured by a catheter usually fed through the right ventricle to the main pulmonary artery, measuring systolic, diastolic, and mean pressures, with the patient in supine position ≤45° elevation. ### Normal Values: - 10-20 mm Hg (mean 15 mm Hg). Postoperative rates should be
