## Collapses Collapses in lower floors can cause subsequent floors to collapse. This is particularly common in buildings with advanced fires. ### Removing Apparatus During advanced fires, apparatus should be removed from the collapse zone. This means the entire area for the full length of the frontage, for a distance out from the wall at least half the height of the wall. ### Common Exceptions A common exception to the stability of these buildings is when a building has repeatedly been burned. This is often the case in old industrial buildings that have been abandoned by their former owners. ### Large-Scale Collapses In these buildings, a seemingly minor fire can result in a relatively large-scale collapse. This might affect both the walls and the floors.
