# Questions First Seven Years 1. Feld would have loved to have focused on his education. Miriam stopped school and intends to go to college, but at least she would have a comfortable life. He admires Max because he is working and in a good future for his daughters. He is not interested in the office. 2. He sees a secure future for his daughters and an obligation to bring Max and Miriam together. He thinks that Max will be interested if he gets to know her. He also hopes that Max might awaken Miriam's desire to go to college. 3. He wants to see a photo first (very superficial, he only wants to see what she looks like) and asks if she is sensible (vernünftin). 4. The noise stops, so he listens to the conversation. As a moment to try and stop, he seems to stop working for a while. At the end of the conversation, he gets angry that he breaks the last part. 5. Feld has had heart problems for a while, and he can't do all the work alone. Sobel saved his life 5 years ago, when he thought he would have to give up the shop. He wants a talented shoemaker, he quickly learned the trade. He does not trust himself to do all the work alone 6. After showing up to work and not finding Feld's wife and daughter, he is convinced to visit Sobel at his house. The landlady told him that Sobel wasn't at home, so he didn't insist.
