A bivariate data set is one where two variables are examined simultaneously. One variable is typically considered independent and the other dependent. Analysis aims to determine the empirical relationships between the two variables. ## Diagram of Dispersion This graph, known as a scatter plot or XY plot, shows the relationship between two variables. By plotting the data points, we can visually determine the correlation or relationship between the two variables. Placing the data on a Cartesian plane allows us to see how the data points are arranged, and in doing so, visualize the degree of the relationship.
