9/7-00.00 F-590 (Chief Officers) 2. Special Duty Fire Chief Officers Fire Suppression certified Chief Officers assigned to special duty may volunteer for platoon duty SOD by signing up on the Network Staffing System. Exception: Long-term vacancies – Long term vacancies (over 27 days) shall rotate as defined within these instructions. Special Duty Chief Officers must be approved by their supervisor in order to work platoon duty SOD. Special Duty Chief Officers shall be limited to working platoon duty SOD on the following days: 1. Regular Day Off (RDO) - 1 per week 2. PM on a regular workday 3. Weekends 4. Holidays Temporary changes to RDOs may be permitted subject to the staffing needs of the Department. It is intended that the RDO process provide flexibility to allow the Department and members the ability to administer and participate in the Special Duty SOD System. Members must obtain prior approval of their supervisor to change their RDO consistent with F- 351 instructions. Special Duty Battalion Chief Officers will be paid (cash only) at the 56 hour per week rate.
