As per the Pyramid Activity Guide, exercise and playing games are to be done regularly or as often as possible. **Think about this:** * What are the two roles a player takes in an invasion game? * How do invasion games develop physical fitness? * Which particular fitness components are heavily improved in the invasion games you played? **Great Idea:** * Invasion games are active games that require a team to keep possession, defend, value teamwork, and score. * Active games help improve one's fitness. Players are only allowed to pass the ball when they have possession of it. * When a point is made, the ball is retrieved and placed in the middle of the playing area for the game to restart. * The teacher may call two or more numbers at a time. * The team with the ball becomes the attacker and the other team becomes the defender. * The attacking team will try to score a goal. * If defenders are able to intercept the ball, they will pass it back to the teacher. * Defenders then will become attackers. **Battery Charger** * **Objective:** * To practice running, dodging, game strategy, and teamwork. * **Facility/Equipment:** * Play area (basketball court-size area). * 2 extra large hula hoop (serves as home base/battery charger) placed at either end line of the playing area. * Bibs/vest - 2 colors (one color for each team). * Cones to designate playing boundaries. * 2 cones to serve as prison marks. * **Organization:** * Participants are divided into two equal teams. * Each team stands on their hoop/home base, with a foot inside the hula hoop if the group is big. * Set the playing area boundaries. * **Procedure:** * The home base/hula hoop is considered a battery charger. * When a player is inside the home base, he is fully charged. * As he steps off the hula hoop, he gradually loses charge. * The longer he is off the base the less charged he becomes. * To recharge, he needs to step inside the hula hoop. * The goal of the game is for a player to step inside the opponents' home base (hula hoop) without being tagged. * On signal of the teacher, the players leave their bases to run and try to invade the opponent's base. * The players can tag each other out. * A player with more charge (has just left the home base/charger) can tag out a person with less charge (left the home base/charger earlier) and not vice versa. * If the player with less charge is caught and tagged out, the player goes to prison (a cone 2 meters beside the opponents' home base).
