Standard Operating Guideline (SOG) Branch Operations-Company Effective Date: 09/01/2024 Guideline Number 04-34A Revised Date: Number of Pages 03 1. Overview This Standard Operating Guideline addresses company operations for a large-scale disaster with multiple incidents in a geographical location. Details listed in this document are designed to address the complex issues of field operations after a major disaster. 2. Process Branch locations will be: North II (2) Branch Battalion 3 Engine 4 Medic Engine 2 Medic Engine 7 Truck 2 South III (3) Branch Battalion 4 Medic Engine 8 Medic Engine 3 Engine 13 Truck 8 MRT/Squad 3 East X (10) Branch Battalion 1 Medic Engine 5 Engine/HazMat 10 Truck 1 Medic Engine 1 MRT/Squad 5 West XIV (14) Branch Battalion 2 Medic Engine 6 Quint/HazMat 14 Quint 9 Medic Engine 11 MRT/Squad 6 Airport XII (12) Branch Airport Battalion Chief Red Company Company 12 MRT/Squad 12 Medic Engine 12 Off duty personnel shall report to their respective Branch or the nearest Branch location that the member can safely respond to. The member will then check in with the Branch Director. 04-34A Branch Operations-Company Operations (SOG), Page 1 of 3 3. Operations Accountability of Station Members A. Treat/Transport injured members as deemed appropriate. Ensure functional status of apparatus and move out of station if possible and necessary depending on circumstances. A. If unable to move apparatus consider moving critical tools to other apparatus, auxiliaries or POVs. Determine status of station. Contact your assigned Branch Director using the following radio channels: A. North II (2) Branch SLCi N City Repeater 1 or 2 City Ground 2 B. South III (3) Branch SLCi S City Repeater 1 or 2 City Ground 2 C. East X (10) Branch SLCi E City Repeater 1 or 2 City Ground 2 D. West XIV (14) Branch SLCi W City Repeater 1 or 2 City Ground 2 E. Airport XII (12) Branch Airport fire Airport ops City Ground 2 Contact Branch by radio. If unable, the Company shall make every effort to transit to branch and report to command (Branch Director). Company officer should communicate en route status, PAR status, and condition of station and apparatus. The company officer at designated branch stations shall assume initial Branch Director Position. Each Branch Director shall remain physically located at the branch. When a Chief Officer arrives the Company Officer becomes the Branch Assistant. After initiating contact with Branch Director, attempt reconnaissance of district. Commit only to incidents where you can make a positive impact on outcomes with limited resources and time. Use Disaster Guide Book (located at each Branch) to identify Critical Infrastructures and Key Resources (CIKR). Attempt to inform the Branch Director of the status of the CIKR in your district. 04-34A Branch Operations-Company Operations (SOG), Page 2 of 3 Attempt to provide relevant data of the following (use forms as aid): A. Number of residences destroyed. B. Number of commercial structures destroyed. C. Number and loon of impassable roads. 4. Priority Guidelines All personnel will follow the tactical priorities of: A. Firefighter safety, health, welfare, and security. B. Life Safety by: Treating the sick and injured Preventing the spread of fire Managing fatalities Evacuating and caring for the displaced C. Incident Stabilization: Provide search and rescue Contain, control, and mitigate fires Contain, control, and mitigate Hazardous Materials D. Property Conservation: restore vital infrastructure E. See Disaster Guide Book for suggestions on specific locations for staging, casualty collection points, rehab, alternate water supply, and transportation routes.
