This can lead to more favorable treatment from the classification society in terms of survey intervals, extent of surveys, and acceptance of machinery condition.

An aerobic sewage treatment plant relies on aerobic bacteria to break down organic matter in the sewage. These bacteria require a constant supply of oxygen to survive and function. If the oxygen supply is interrupted or insufficient, the aerobic bacteria will die off, and the treatment process will become anaerobic, leading to the buildup of toxic gases like hydrogen sulfide and methane, as well as incomplete breakdown of sewage.

(i) Wet Bulb Temperature is the temperature indicated by a thermometer with a wet bulb, which measures the cooling effect of evaporation on the bulb. It is lower than the dry bulb temperature.

(ii) Relative Humidity is the amount of water vapor present in air expressed as a percentage of the amount needed for saturation at the same temperature.

Countermeasures to reduce Legionella risks in air conditioning systems include: maintaining water temperatures outside the bacteria growth range, using biocides, regularly cleaning and disinfecting the system, ensuring proper drainage to prevent stagnant water, and implementing a water management plan with testing and monitoring.

A spirally wound membrane consists of a permeate collection tube surrounded by membrane envelopes separated by permeate carriers and feed spacers. The membrane envelope is made of a semi-permeable membrane sheet sealed around a permeate carrier fabric. Feed water flows along the membrane surface, with purified water passing through the membrane into the permeate carrier and collection tube.

A stabilizer fin produces a stabilizing effect by generating a hydrodynamic lifting force that counteracts the rolling motion of the vessel. As the vessel rolls, the fin moves through the water at an angle of attack, creating lift in the opposite direction of the roll. This lift force acts to dampen the rolling motion and stabilize the vessel.
