Workplace Violence Policy
- Spring Fire Department prohibits all types of workplace violence by or against personnel, citizens, vendors and visitors
- Violence is defined as any direct or indirect action that could be interpreted as a potential to harm, endanger or inflict pain to any person or property
- Examples of prohibited conduct include: physical assault, threatening with a weapon, damaging property, engaging in aggressive or hostile behavior, harassing or intimidating statements
- Any personnel who feels threatened or is subjected to violent conduct shall report the incident to his or her supervisor or Human Resources Department immediately
Weapon Free Workplace Policy
- Weapons are strictly prohibited on all property owned or leased by Spring Fire Department
- This includes guns, non-household knives, and explosives
- Chemical sprays such as mace and pepper spray are excluded from this policy
- The prohibition against weapons applies regardless of whether the weapon is unloaded or incapable of being fired
- Full and Part-time Police Officers must have the permission of the Deputy Chief of Support Services to carry their respective weapon(s)
- Employees are allowed to transport or store firearms in a locked, privately owned motor vehicle in a parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area provided by the Department

- Spring Fire Department prohibits all types of workplace violence committed by or against personnel, citizens, vendors, or visitors.
- This policy applies to all personnel of Spring Fire Department.
- The Executive Board reviews this policy and assures its accuracy.
- Personnel who threaten violence or act violently will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Incidents will be reported to local law enforcement authorities.
- A violent act or threat of violence includes any action or behavior that could be interpreted as indicating a potential for harm.
- Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Physical assault, threat to assault, or stalking personnel or citizens.
- Possessing or threatening with a weapon.
- Intentionally damaging property of Spring Fire Department or personal property of another.
- Aggressive or hostile behavior that creates a reasonable fear of injury to another person.
- Harassing or intimidating statements.
- Phone calls, voice mails, text messages, emails, or any message delivered in any form that is deemed offensive by the receiver.
- Personnel who feel threatened or subjected to violent conduct must report the incident immediately.
- Personnel must report any suspicious individuals or activities as soon as possible.
- Personnel with a restraining order in effect or any other issue that has a potential to cause workplace violence must notify their supervisor or Human Resources Department.
Weapon-Free Workplace Policy
- Weapons are strictly prohibited on all property owned or leased by Spring Fire Department.
- This policy applies to all job applicants, personnel, vendors, contractors, and other visitors.
- Spring Fire Department reserves the right to conduct unannounced searches and inspections to ensure compliance.
- Full and Part-time Police Officers must have permission from the Deputy Chief of Support Services to carry their respective weapon(s).
- Weapons include, but are not limited to:
- Guns, non-household knives (except pocket knives containing a single-edged blade no more than 4 inches in length), and explosives.
