Workplace Violence Policy
- Spring Fire Department (SFD) strives to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- SFD prohibits any type of workplace violence, including threats and acts of violence, committed by or against personnel, citizens, vendors, or visitors.
- Acts of violence include physical assault, possessing or threatening with a weapon, intentional property damage, aggressive or hostile behavior, and harassing or intimidating statements.
- Any personnel who feel threatened or subject to violence should report the incident to their supervisor or Human Resources Department immediately.
Weapon Free Workplace Policy
- Weapons are strictly prohibited on all SFD property, including guns, non-household knives, and explosives.
- Pocket knives with a single-edged blade no more than 4 inches in length are permitted.
- Chemical sprays such as mace and pepper spray are excluded from this policy.
- SFD reserves the right to conduct unannounced searches and inspections to ensure compliance.
- Full and Part-time Police Officers must have the permission of the Deputy Chief of Support Services to carry their weapons.
- Employees are authorized to store firearms or ammunition in a locked, privately owned vehicle in a parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area provided by the Department.
