Composition

- Contains volatile oil (0.5-1%) comprising esters, alcohols, terpenes, and sesquiterpenes.
- Rich in valepotriates (epoxy-iridoids esters), a mixture of acevaltrate, didrovaltrate, and valtrate.
- Alkaloids (0.05-1%) are also present, including valerine.
Therapeutic Uses
- Used as a sedative to treat hysteria, nervous disorders, and insomnia to induce sleep.
