Concept: A complex mental formulation stemming from individual perceptions and experiences, serving as building blocks for theory.
Theory: Derived from the Greek word "theoria", combining interrelated concepts to provide a systematic, explanatory, and predictive view of a phenomenon.
Nursing Theory: Should encompass context (environment), content (subject), and process (application method in nursing practice).
Paradigm: A lens through which a discipline, such as nursing, is viewed.

Practice: Refers to established methods, procedures, or rules within a specific profession.
Discipline: An academic branch associated with a distinct domain of knowledge or education.

Organizes nursing curricula and addresses nursing values and concepts.
Enhances nursing education and shifts practice focus from mere actions to informed decision-making and patient understanding.
Contributes to the recognition of nursing as a profession and provides a foundation for knowledgeable care.

Empirical Knowing: The science of nursing, based on factual, observable phenomena and theoretical analyses.
- Two data types:
  - Objective (measurable, obtained through observation).
  - Subjective (personal experiences, e.g., pain reported by patients).
Aesthetic Knowing: The art of nursing, expressed through creativity and personal style in patient care, emphasizing empathy and holistic understanding.
Personal Knowing: Focuses on self-awareness and genuine engagement with patients, fostering integrity and caring interactions.
Ethical Knowing: Centers on moral obligations and the integration of ethical considerations beyond merely following codes of conduct, achieved through integration of diverse knowledge types.
