Study Notes
Correlation Analysis
- Investigates the level of association between two variables
- Examines the extent to which two variables change together
Simple Regression
- Tests a model that uses a single predictor to predict values of an outcome
- Examines the magnitude of the effect of the predictor on the outcome
Multiple Regression
- Tests a model that uses more than one predictor to predict values of an outcome
- Examines the magnitude of the unique effects of each predictor on the outcome
- Examines the magnitude of the effects of all predictors taken together on the outcome
Mediation Analysis
- Tests a model where the predictor has effects on the outcome both directly and indirectly via a mediating variable
- Examines the simplest mediation model, with more complex models possible but not covered in this module
Moderation Analysis
- Tests a model where the magnitude of the effect of the predictor on the outcome varies based on variations in the values of a third variable (moderator)
