    Spring Fire Department Termination Policy

    • Voluntary Termination: Resignations are effective when provided.
      • Members are requested to provide a minimum of two weeks' notice.
      • Those in an Administrative role should provide a minimum of 30 days’ notice.
      • Members who are involuntarily terminated, fail to provide requested notice and/or attend an exit interview will be forfeiting accrual payouts.
      • Members must return all department equipment and remove personal property from department property. Failure to do so may result in prosecution.
    • Involuntary Termination: Can happen for various legal reasons including:
      • Misconduct, tardiness, absenteeism, unsatisfactory performance, insubordination, failure to meet scheduling requirements or violation of department policies and procedures.
      • Including but not limited to, failure to maintain required certifications, theft from the department or any scene, inappropriate acts while representing Spring Fire Department, gross insubordination, acts of violence, or harassment.
    • Reinstatement:
      • Any member who was involuntarily terminated is not eligible for reinstatement.
      • Members who wish to be reinstated must be approved by Human Resources and the Executive Staff.
      • Reinstatement is processed through Human Resources.
