In a democracy, the role of the media is to allow freedom of speech and expression, to report on unethical criminal and undemocratic behavior by government officials, and to keep the government accountable to the citizens.
Mass media in a democracy is essential for informing the public and mobilizing them to support the government.
In an authoritarian regime, the government controls the media and eliminates news that could be damaging to its reputation. This allows the government to remain in power without the public's consent.
Pluralism is a key component of the media in a democracy, as it allows for different voices to be heard and allows for a greater understanding of different perspectives.
Daphne Caruana Galizia's journalism exposed a flawed and corrupt government, which led to her death. She is an example of how journalists in a democracy must be vigilant in order to protect the freedom of the press.

The poem teaches us that it's important for leaders to communicate with their citizens, even if they can't see the whole picture.
