Types of Sentences Based on Meaning
- Sentences are classified into eight types based on their meaning or sense.
- These include affirmative (विधानवाचक), negative (निषेधात्मक), interrogative (प्रश्नवाचक), exclamatory (विस्मयादिबोधक), command (आज्ञा वाचक), optative (इच्छावाचक), doubtful (संदेह वाचक), and conditional (संकेत वाचक) sentences.
Affirmative Sentence (विधानवाचक वाक्य)
- Affirmative sentences express the doing or occurrence of an action.
- Example: Brother made a picture with a pencil (भाई ने पेंसिल से चित्र बनाया).
- Example: Geeta is making bread (गीता रोटी बना रही है).
- Example: You are studying grammar (आप व्याकरण पढ़ रहे हैं).
Negative Sentence (निषेधात्मक वाक्य)
- Negative sentences indicate that an action is not happening.
- Example: I will not study mathematics (मैं गणित नहीं पढूंगा).
- Example: Shalini will not listen to the story (शालिनी कहानी नहीं सुनेगी).
