Study Notes
Data Assessment Preparation
- Prepare with a pencil and relevant data sheets such as ABC Data, Manding, and NET.
- Ensure all necessary learning materials and reinforcers are readily available.
Continuous Measurement Procedures
- Involve capturing frequency and duration of behaviors consistently.
Frequency Data
- Represents continuous data collected during every opportunity to assess manding behaviors.
Duration Data
- Continuous data that tracks the length of specific behaviors, such as tantrums.
Discontinuous Measurement Procedures
- Focus on skill acquisition data collected only on the first occurrence of a behavior in a session, known as Cold Probe Data.
- Includes techniques like partial interval recording, whole interval recording, and momentary time sampling.
Partial Interval Recording
- Discontinuous data method that records if a behavior occurred at least once within a defined time interval.
Whole Interval Recording
- Discontinuous data technique that captures if a behavior was present throughout the entirety of the timed interval.
Momentary Time Sampling
- A method of collecting discontinuous data by recording behavior at predetermined intervals, such as every few minutes.
Permanent Product Recording Procedures
- Utilizes a 'card system' for tangible items that can be measured and counted to monitor progress and response accuracy.
Observable and Measurable Behavior
- Behavior should be defined by observable actions, such as hitting, rather than internal states like frustration which cannot be directly seen.
Preference Assessments
- Structured methods to identify potential reinforcers, including surveys or observational methods to assess a client's motivated engagements.
Assisting with Assessment Procedures
- RBTs support BCBAs by collecting ABC data, aiding in assessments concerning manding, listener skills, and motor imitation.
Functional Assessment Assistance
- RBTs help BCBAs by collecting ABC data during Functional Assessment Interviews and implement antecedent manipulations.
Skill Acquisition Plan Components
- Must include a baseline assessment, observable and measurable goals, mastery criteria that vary by individual.
Session Preparation for Skill Acquisition Plans
- Have all data sheets, preferred items, learning materials, and teaching cards organized and ready for use.
Reinforcement Contingencies
- Two primary types: Continuous Reinforcement and Intermittent Reinforcement.
Continuous Reinforcement
- Provides reinforcement after every successful response, effective for teaching new skills.
Intermittent/Variable Reinforcement
- Implemented after mastering skills, providing reinforcement on average every 5-7 correct responses.
Discrete Trial Training (DTT)
- An instructional method where skills are broken down into small, manageable steps taught sequentially through structured trials.
Naturalistic Teaching Procedures (NET)
- Utilizes reinforcing activities to promote learning; includes manding opportunities and can overlap with Incidental Teaching methods.
