Training Courses
- Refresher Courses cover subjects related to promotional courses, but with limited coverage.
- Special Courses are arranged periodically to increase awareness of staff on specific subjects, such as Rail Wheel Interaction & derailment, Geotechnical Investigation, Survey, and others.
- Training Module for Non-Gazetted staff of Civil Engineering Department follows the guidelines set by Railway Board.
Certificate of Competency
- A qualified person with a certificate of competency is responsible for supervising Track works and ensuring proper protection.
- To be eligible for a certificate, staff must be literate, have knowledge of Hindi or other local language, and pass a prescribed Medical test.
- The certificate is issued for a specified period and renewed periodically.
Practical Training
- Practical training includes visits to various sites, such as open lines and construction sites, where Permanent Way maintenance/Construction work is being done.
- Training shall be given to permanent way staff as prescribed in the Training Manual.
- Gang Mate/Keyman must receive a competency certificate from the Divisional Training Centre before being deployed on LWR/CWR sections.
Promotional Courses
- Promotional training courses are necessary for staff promoted from a lower to a higher status.
- Courses are held at the Divisional Training Centers, Zonal Railway Training Institute, or other designated centers, depending on the type of promotion.
Refresher Courses
- Refresher Courses are necessary to enable staff to keep themselves updated with the latest rules and techniques.
- Keymen, Gang Mates, and JE/SSE/P.Way should attend Refresher Courses once in five years.
