Programmed Instruction Materials are needed in Programmed Instruction.
Programmed Instruction was introduced in the field of education by Skinner, Crowder, Mager, and others, but some research suggests it was used as early as the 1800s.
Programmed instruction emphasizes that each individual has their own learning pace and can learn without a teacher.
Self-Learning Kit or SLK is a type of programmed material that roots from this belief.

Programmed instruction materials are a series of lessons and knowledge in teaching frames.
These frames are arranged in a logical structure, so what is learned first can be used to understand and learn the next lesson.
In the Skinnerian style, the lessons are composed in a linear manner, known as the linear style.
With this system, when the student makes a mistake in giving a response, he is returned to the wrong lesson to read again and correct the mistake.
In the Crowder style, the lessons branch out, it is also known as the branching style.
In this system, if there is a mistake, another lesson is answered instead of returning to the first wrong lesson.
Learners who do not make mistakes do not need to answer the "branch" intended for those who make mistakes.
Programmed teaching materials, such as modules and SLKs, help address the shortcomings of classrooms and teaching teachers.
This also helps students who are absent to catch up on their assignments.
Slow learners are given remedial activities while intelligent students are given tools to enrich their knowledge of the subject.
