- Value chain = a business model describing all activities needed to create and deliver a product or service
- Activities are categorized as primary or secondary
- Primary activities: inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales, customer service
- Secondary activities: Firm infrastructure, Human Resource Management, Technology development, Procurement
