- Antonio de Morga was cleared of his charges and had his offices restored on September 18, 1625.
- Morga died in 1636 at the age of 77.
- Jose Rizal began copying the first edition of Morga's Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas by hand on August 18, 1888.
- Rizal searched for historical materials in Madrid and Barcelona's National Library in December 1888.
- Rizal brought the manuscript to Paris for printing and sent a letter to Ferdinand Blumetritt requesting an introduction in September 1889.
