Philippine Food Fortification Act of 2000 (Republic Act No. 8976)
- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) requires other processed foods or food products to be fortified based on findings of nutrition surveys.
- The regulations are issued by the Department of Health (DOH) through the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) and other concerned agencies.
- Manufacturers of processed food or food products must include a statement of "nutrition facts" on the label, indicating the nutrient(s) and quantities added.

- Enrichment: addition of specific amounts of selected nutrients in accordance with a standard of identity as defined by the USFDA.
- Nutrification: a generic term for any addition of nutrients to food.
USFDA Guidelines for Nutrient Added to a Food
- The nutrient must be stable under customary conditions of storage, distribution, and use.
