Flag Ceremony
- Government offices and educational institutions observe a flag-raising ceremony every Monday morning and a flag-lowering ceremony every Friday afternoon.
- The ceremony includes the playing or singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
- During the flag-raising ceremony, everyone stands in formation facing the flag and comes to attention when the first note of the anthem is heard.
- Those in military, scouting, security guard, and citizens military training uniforms give a hand salute.
Pledge of Allegiance
- The Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine flag states: "Ako ay Filipino / Buong katapatang nanunumpa Sa watawat ng Pilipinas / At sa bansang kanyang sinasagisag Na may dangal, Katarungan at Kalayaan / Na pinakikilos ng sambayanang Maka-Diyos / Maka-tao Makakalikasan at Makabansa."
National Service Training Program (NSTP)
- The NSTP Law (RA 9163) was enacted in January 2002 to amend the Expanded ROTC.
- The NSTP aims to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth.
- The NSTP has three program components:
- Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)
- Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)
- Literacy Training Service (LTS)
- All incoming freshmen students enrolled in any baccalaureate or technical-vocational courses are required to complete one NSTP component.
- State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) must offer the ROTC component and at least one other NSTP component.
- Private institutions with at least 350 student cadets can offer the ROTC component.
Right to Due Process
- The Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to due process of law.
- Due process means a law that hears before it condemns, which proceeds upon inquiry and renders judgment only after trial.
- Equal protection of the laws means all persons or things similarly situated should be treated alike, both as to rights conferred and responsibilities imposed.
Right to Be Secure
- The people have the right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures.
- A search warrant or warrant of arrest must be issued by a judge upon probable cause.
- The warrant must specifically describe the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.
Right to Privacy
- The privacy of communication and correspondence shall be inviolable except upon lawful order of the court or when public safety or order requires otherwise.
- Any evidence obtained in violation of this right is inadmissible in any proceeding.
Freedom of Speech and Expression
- The Constitution guarantees the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press.
- The right of the people to peaceably assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances is also protected.
Freedom of Religion
- The Constitution prohibits the government from establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Right Against Self-Incrimination
- A person under investigation for an offense has the right to remain silent and to have competent and independent counsel.
- No torture, force, violence, threat, intimidation, or any other means which vitiate free will can be used against a person under investigation.
- Any confession or admission obtained in violation of these rights is inadmissible in evidence.
Right to Bail
- All persons, except those charged with offenses punishable by reclusion perpetua when evidence of guilt is strong, are bailable.
- The right to bail cannot be impaired even when the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus is suspended.

- All persons have the right to a speedy disposition of their cases before all judicial, quasi-judicial, or administrative bodies.
